Baldwinsville, NY Divisions
Local Division

Our local fleet consists of hourly drivers working primarily within 100 miles of our terminal in day cab tractors. We provide 24-hour 7-day a week service to major customers in the Central New York area.

Our local drivers drive late model day cab trucks and enjoy 2 days off per week.

The fleet services a diverse customer base including hauling beverages, beverage containers, cardboard, coffee beans, bulk glass, steel coils, and cans.

The Local Division also serves as a support for our Road Division by loading trailers and making local inbound deliveries as needed.

Regional Van Operation

At the Gypsum Express Baldwinsville Terminal we operate a truly regional road fleet dispatched mainly within NY, NJ, PA and the New England states. We have a well cultivated customer base in these regions.

Flexible timing and many drop trailer scenarios within these lanes allow our drivers to turn out of our terminal almost daily. This allows our drivers to become very comfortable by traveling many similar routes and handling many repeat customers. Our consistency within this region allows our drivers to accumulate excellent weekly mileage totals and excellent pay, without spending long periods of time away from home.

We handle a lot of glass bottles, beer, wine, plastics, cardboard, rolls of paper, pallets, and other easy off type of freight. A driver in this division can expect to be through the terminal several times a week and is guaranteed 48 consecutive hours off each week. This is the company’s original fleet and has a dispatch crew with over 7 year’s average experience to service their drivers.

Thruway Tandem Division

One of the major foundations for the growth of Gypsum Express is our Thruway tandem division. Within our northeast regional operations, we run 48’ thruway tandems from Ripley, NY to Boston, MA and to the NY / NJ metropolitan area, as well as everywhere in between. We handle a good mix of timed deliveries and flexible drop and hooks to keep the driver moving.

The doubles drivers earn a good portion of their pay through accessorial pay associated with the doubles work. Getting paid to hook the doubles, switch at any customer location, live unload a trailer, or live reload a trailer, all add up to significant dollars each and every week. Our drivers normally make three to five doubles rounds per week, depending on the length of the set.

All of these factors add up to our tandem drivers being the highest compensated drivers in the company on both a per mile and gross dollar basis. Tandem drivers can average in excess of $0.50 per mile and $60,000 anually. This is the division that many of our drivers hope to gain the necesasry experience and endorsements to join and maximize their earning potential.

Flatbed Division

Our flatbed division is a regional operation but one that extends a little farther than just the surrounding states of NY. We handle freight along the east coast and into Canada and the Midwest. We utilize both flatbed traielrs and roll tite trailers depending on the specific needs of our customers. We move in and out of many of the other flatbed terminals, handling their customer freight to move our trucks back in the "home" direction. Our versatile and experienced driver force allows us to handle many different commodities with a strong focus on building materials.

TA Division

Our Transportation Advantage program is a dedicated fleet of drivers working exclusively for a local brewery. In this fleet, we run both day cab tractors and sleeper trucks and perform a variety of services including same day deliveries, thruway tandem and inbound material returns. This top tier fleet is only promoted from within and is comprised of drivers who have proven their abilities and professionalism in our other fleets first.

SSA Division

The SSA division of Gypsum Express is an hourly operation based on site for a local brewery. These are uniformed drivers working in a premium hourly position.

Our drivers report to work directly to the plant and work their shift almost exclusively on property. The drivers utilize hydraulic fifth wheel equipped tractors to spot under a state of the art, automated program. This work is done in new Ottawa trucks equipped with hydraulic fifth wheels and all work is within ¼ mile of the brewery property.

An in-truck screen is used for real time communication with the dock, the loaders, and the other spotters to direct empty trailers or inbound materials into doors, and to pull empty trailers or full product shipments out. Efficiency and communication are the trademarks of this premium hourly job within Gypsum Express.

We utilize a satellite communication system. We are only a keystroke away for any situation that you might encounter.

Communication is the key for our mutual success.
